Ground Source and Air Source Heat Pumps

From residential through to commercial and industrial requirements, Woodward Group provide a complete install and maintenance package for Ground Source and Air Source Heat Pumps.

Instead of burning fossil fuels onsite to warm businesses and homes, becoming Green and having an Environmental Conscience by installing a Heat Pump system will also help with reducing your energy costs and the reduction of greenhouse gasses.

Renewable Heat Incentive

A clear benefit to installing this green technology is that the Government provides financial support with the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme (RHI). This scheme pays a set rate per unit of renewable heat produced for 20 years if commercial / industrial use and seven years if the system is for domestic applications.

Which System do you Install - Ground Source or Air Source?

Both Ground Source and Air Source Heat Pumps work on the same principles of absorbing heat from the air, earth or water.

However, if cost and time to install is a primary driver and you have limitations on land availability, an Air Source system would be the main choice. If cost is not a key driver, it is recommended to go for the Ground Source system as they run almost silently and maintain a relatively high efficiency all year round.

Our installation experience extends to factories, industrial units and workshops.

Modern well insulated units may be suited to heat pumps with underfloor heating; whereas older, thin skin units will be better served with biomass systems feeding blown air fan coil units which are ideal for heating large open spaces.

Maintenance & Servicing of Heat Pumps

A good quality and well installed ground or air source heat pump system will require relatively little maintenance and can be expected to last for at least 20-30 years. However, most manufacturer’s warranties are only upheld if your renewable technology is regularly maintained, which is why it is important to ensure your Heat Pump system is serviced frequently and that an annual service certificate is issued by a qualified engineer.

Ground Source Heat Pump servicing includes:

Air Source Heat Pump servicing includes:

Regular servicing will not only guarantee your system’s performance throughout the year and prolong the lifetime of the technology, it will also save you money on repairs as most parts are covered by warranty for approximately 5 to 10 years.
